Dear Parents, Guardians and Students/Annwyl Rieni, Gwarchodwyr a Myfyrwyr

Congratulations to all of our Key Stage 4 students on their amazing achievements!

At 8am this morning, anticipation reached its peak as we opened our doors and handed over the envelopes that had dominated thoughts and conversations for weeks.

For our Year 10 and 11 students, it was a moment filled with emotion. Some ripped open their results immediately, eager to see the rewards of their hard work. Others let the suspense linger, while some held their envelopes close for just a little longer before finding the courage to reveal the grades inside. In those few moments, excitement, relief, pride and hope were written across every face.

We have the upmost respect for these young people who are forging their way with optimism and determination.  Today is about celebrating their achievements.

Our GCSE students have demonstrated incredible determination and dedication over the last few months, and we’re thrilled to see so many achieve the results for which they had hoped. We appreciate that the definition of success differs between individual students depending on their personal goals, but we believe that all of our young people have something to be proud of following these results and we’re pleased to have been able to play our part in this.

Our Year 11 cohort of nearly 300 students received their GCSE results, with students achieving exceptional results in a range of academic and vocational qualifications. For the second year running, nearly one third of the year group achieving at least five GCSEs at A*/A.  Nearly all students in the cohort achieved the Level 1 threshold. An amazing 78% achieved at least five GCSEs at grades A*-C. More students than ever achieved 12, 13, or 14 GCSEs at A* and A, and the cohort achieved our highest every Capped 9 measure at 404.

Figures aside, we are delighted because these outcomes impact on future life chances for all students at all levels.

We are absolutely delighted by the exceptional results achieved by our students this year. These outcomes reflect not only their hard work, resilience and determination, but also represent opportunities that will have a lasting impact on their future aspirations and life chances.

We were particularly proud of the achievements of our students in the Special Resource Bases, who delivered outstanding results. Their success is richly deserved and stands as a testament to the dedication, perseverance and ambition they have shown throughout their studies.

One of the highlights of the morning was seeing so many parents, siblings and extended family members joining us to celebrate. The school was filled with smiles, hugs and happy tears as families shared in this important milestone.

The atmosphere was one of genuine joy, pride and celebration, and a powerful reminder that behind every set of results is a community of people cheering our young people on to success.

While 140+ students are choosing to study for their A Levels at Llanishen High School, other students are celebrating their progression into vocational pathways including entrance to the army, nursing, apprenticeships, hairdressing, childcare, mechanics and a specialist Dance Academy in Bath.

It has been a positively hectic morning and amazing to have the students and their families on site to share their successes.  Here is a further round up of some of the superstars who collected their results today…….

It was also wonderful to see so many of our Year 10 students collecting their results this morning. While today marks an important milestone, it is not the end of the journey. Rather, it is a valuable halfway checkpoint; an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved so far and to look ahead to what is possible in the year to come.

We commend our Year 10 students for the commitment, maturity and resilience they have shown throughout the past academic year. Their journey has not been without its challenges, yet they have faced every hurdle with determination, good humour and grace. Today’s results provide a well-earned moment to celebrate their hard work, but they should also serve as a springboard for even greater success.

As they embark on their final year of statutory education, we encourage them to take confidence from what they have already accomplished, set ambitious goals and continue striving for excellence. We look forward to seeing them build on these strong foundations and fulfil their considerable potential over the year ahead.

A special guest!

Staff and parents were not the only people in school to celebrate with our students. We were extremely privileged this morning to be joined by the Minister for Education, Mrs Anna Brychan.  The Minister was incredibly interested in our students, their achievement and their future plans. We look forward to doing more great things together in the future!

As always, I would also like to extend my thanks to our teachers, support staff and examinations team for the huge amount of work that has been undertaken throughout the year to ensure that our students achieve the qualifications to enable them to progress to the next stage of their lives in education or employment.

Again, we take our hats off to parents and family members who have supported, nudged, and walked that fine balance of supporting these young people through the last 10/11 years.

Our journey with some of you will continue and we’ll be seeing some familiar faces this September as we welcome back over 140 students hoping to start their A Levels with us at Sixth Form. We look forward to seeing how these individuals thrive in the next phase of their education. As we have been from the moment they stepped through our doors, we’ll be here to support them every step of the way. For others pursuing alternative routes, we wish them the absolute best of luck in all of their future endeavours, and we can’t wait to see what they will achieve.

All that remains is for me to wish you all a very happy bank holiday weekend.

We look forward to welcoming Years 7, 9, 12 back to school on Thursday 3rd September.

They will be joined by Years 8, 10, 11 and 13 on Friday 4th September.

Thank you for reading/Diolch am ddarllen,
