Dear Parents, Guardians and Students/Annwyl Rhieni, Gwarchodwyr a Myfyrwyr
Couch to 5K? Not a problem at all for this crew!
Last Friday, our ABSA and learning support teams absolutely smashed their 5k challenge around Roath Park. Students and staff ran, skipped and rolled their way to the finish line in absolute style. Adorned in purple to reflect their chosen charity, the Little Princess Trust, they gave their all. Friendships were cemented. New goals were achieved. Their confidence grew. And the collective sense of achievement was awesome. We were so proud of the way in which they encouraged and supported one another. There is nothing that this crew cannot achieve together.

Thank you to everyone who was able to come and support us on the day. It made a huge difference and it was amazing for the young people (and the staff) to be supported by their family and friends. We really appreciated the cold waters and orange slices!
Thank you also for the kind donations. At the time of writing, the team have raised a massive £1,350.
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

There is still time to donate!
Here are a few more snaps from our medal winners at a very sunny Roath Park. It is no wonder that the Learning Support Team have nominated ALL the participants to be ‘Learning Support Star of the Week!’

The girls are storming the netball!
A huge congratulations to our Year 7B netball team! Last half term, they secured 2nd place in the Cardiff and Vale B League Netball finals. The competition was intense, culminating in a sudden death match due to a draw with Bro Eden, with both teams having the same score and goal difference. In a tense final game, our girls held their ground and scored the decisive first goal, earning their well-deserved medals!
Girls – you showed great determination and resilience! What a fantastic end to a great season. We’re already looking forward to the next one. Well done to Chloe Cook, Grace Leslie, Mairin Anderson, Olivia Amlot, Rosie Goodall, Summer Beadle, Amalie Scourfield and Nieve Stewart. Amalie Scourfield also won the MVP award for her team!!

The girls are also storming the football!
We would also like to extend our congratulations to our Welsh Schools Champions! Massive congratulations to Alicia Brody, Chloe Moss, Lucia Lillywhite and Maisey Lillywhite on winning the U12 girls final against Wrexham. Here are the four girls who represented Llanishen on the Cardiff and Vale team, and well done to Pheobe Moss who represented Llanishen in the U14’s team. They beat Swansea for the first time in 3-years!!

Year 9 promote Mental Health awareness week
The team activities we’ve celebrated above are such positive examples of how to look after your mental health and to surround yourself with team mates who have your back and look out for you. But there are also many other layers to our individual onions.
In registration last week, the Year 9 team prepared posters to help raise awareness for Mental Health Week. It is a subject that is very close to Mr Owen’s heart and he was lost for words during line-ups! Without exception, our students and form tutors worked so very hard to share a powerful message. We are incredibly proud of them all.

Year 9 Drama on Tour!
This week and the first week back after half term, our Year 9 drama students are going on tour! We are visiting the local primary schools and performing plays the students have written themselves, as well as delivering workshops to pupils in Years 1-3. So far, our work has been a hit and we are looking forward to visiting some more schools in the weeks ahead! Mrs Brown and Mr Wolverson are very proud of all of the students! A special thank you goes to Ms Jenkins for being our amazing minibus driver!

We will wave a fond farewell to the students on Friday 23rd May and wish you all a very happy half-term and bank holiday weekend. I look forward to bringing you more news and stories after half-term.
Thank you for reading/Diolch am ddarllen,
