LHS at the Senedd

With election fever in the air and the lowering of the voting age in Wales, there was no better time for Ruben Kelman (Member of the Welsh Youth Parliament for Cardiff North) to organise a visit to ensure that the Senedd is gearing up for the weeks ahead. And so, he organised the visit himself, down to the last detail. The only thing he couldn’t do was drive the school minibus...but give him time! I commend Julie Morgan, and … because this bunch are a fearless, intelligent and ethically informed bunch of citizens of Wales and the world.
The trip is best summed up by Ruben himself:
On Tuesday I took a group of fifteen pupils on a trip to the Senedd, the heart of Welsh democracy. We had a great tour which taught us all about the history of Welsh devolution, the construction & sustainability of the building & how our parliament works. We had a great opportunity to meet with four of our Senedd members to ask them about their lives as politicians. We talked about everything from Independence to Education & it was great to see how engaged Heledd, Rhys, Joel & Julie were with us and other young people. We were also able to watch a bit of Tuesday’s proceedings which included questions to the First Minister this was a very interesting way of getting an insight into the Senedd’s daily running.
Diolch yn fawr iawn to Mr Bloor our amazing bus driver, Heledd Fychan, Rhys ab Owen, Julie Morgan, Joel James and all the staff that facilitated our visit. I look forward to bringing another group down in the future.
