Year 11 into 12 Learning Pathways

Welcome to our first ever Virtual Year 11 into 12 Learning Pathways Event.

Although we are disappointed not to be able to welcome you into school this year, we are excited to share our subject and general sixth form information video presentations to showcase the provision and opportunities available at Llanishen High School Sixth Form.

Please be sure to take time to look through our digital prospectus and subject information booklets which will ensure you have all the details you need to successfully apply for your chosen subjects at LHS Sixth Form.

Life as a Sixth Form student at Llanishen High School is vibrant, challenging and rewarding. Our aim is to support students to engage fully with their studies and develop into happy independent learners, so they can take the next steps after Sixth Form life with confidence.
We offer a broad curriculum which enables success at all academic levels and in turn opens doors to a wide range of higher education courses and career pathways. Learning is driven by inspiring specialist teachers who set high expectations and provide an academically challenging, inclusive and stimulating environment to learn; and one in which all students can thrive. We equip students with the broad range of skills and attitudes required to build successful futures and to feel proud of their achievements and successes.
Each year, over 90% of our students achieve their first choice university course, with our highest achievers gaining places at both Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. We pride ourselves on having close links with a range of universities and institutions across the UK and are excited about the new partnerships we are forming with a range of businesses. We offer clear pathways for those students not choosing higher education and provide advice on modern apprenticeship schemes and employment.
Through our Sixth Form tutorial system we provide the support, care and guidance to ensure students remain motivated and set high aspirations for themselves academically. In addition, we recognise the importance of providing a safe, fun and nurturing environment for students to flourish personally and socially. Contributing to the wider-life of our community through charity fundraising events, senior prefect duties and volunteering schemes are just a few examples of how our students develop into responsible citizens and inspirational role models.
All the experiences we provide ensure our students have every opportunity to achieve their aspirations and prepare them for their next challenge. The culmination of support, guidance and teaching make Llanishen Sixth Form a great place to learn.

A warm welcome from our Headteacher - Mrs Parry
Greetings and key information from Head of 6th - Mrs Lloyd

Submitting your Application
An application to LHS Sixth Form is made by submitting an online free choice options form. This is an initial survey of the subject combinations each student would like to study at A Level. Students are asked to select their top 4 subjects and submit the form by Tuesday 15th December, 2020.
If you are an external applicant could you please also complete this form and return it to Mrs J. Jones by email.
Following the free choice survey we will create the option blocks from which final option choices can be selected. We endeavour to accommodate all option choices, however please appreciate that this is not always possible. If this is the case, we support students fully to help them make informed options decisions to achieve their future aspirations.
In addition we regularly post information, updates and opportunities on our school twitter account @llanishen6ixth and we would encourage you to follow us prior to joining Year 12. We are also excited to announce the launch of our LHS Alumni Network to further support our students with their journey through Sixth Form and into Higher Education/Apprenticeship schemes.
Please enjoy your virtual visit to our school and if you feel that you have any further questions please do not hesitate to email any of the Sixth Form team below who will be more than happy to help you:
